There are 54 countries in Africa and so far, 12 African countries have adopted OVOP, including Malawi (2003), Kenya (2006), Ethiopia (2010), Ghana, Senegal (2011), Mozambique (2011), Uganda (2008), Tanzania (2011), Madagascar (2010), Nigeria (2014), South Africa and Zambia (2014). In these countries, people are encouraged to identify local material, natural, or cultural resources and to devise methods to add value to them.
